Module Introduction
This module introduces the basic concepts of chemistry, such as atoms and subatomic particles, the organization of elements in the Periodic Table, molecules, and chemical bonding. The study of chemistry applies this knowledge to change matter at a molecular level by chemical reaction. These basic principles apply to both organic and inorganic chemistry. Organic chemistry studies the science of hydrocarbons, while inorganic chemistry addresses non-hydrocarbon substances. This training module is designed to provide you the tools to apply this knowledge when working in a refinery or chemical plant.
